About Us
Wintergreen specializes in manufacturing fertilizers. Our primary goal is to address the escalating global demand for food by assisting farmers worldwide in enhancing both crop yield and quality.
The agricultural sector contributes approximately 7 percent to the national GDP. Within this sector, fisheries account for about 1.3 percent, while the livestock sector contributes 0.9 percent. Over 30 percent of Sri Lanka’s population is employed in agriculture. Despite Sri Lanka’s fertile tropical landscape with vast potential for diverse crop cultivation and processing, challenges related to productivity and profitability hinder sectoral growth.
Rice stands as Sri Lanka’s main food crop, cultivated in two seasons. Additionally, tea cultivation in the central highlands serves as a significant source of foreign exchange. The country also cultivates fruits, vegetables, and oilseed crops. Enhancing agricultural productivity is a key priority for the current government. While mechanized farming adoption has been sluggish, the government aims to boost mechanization and cultivate high-value cash crops like fruits, flowers, and other export-oriented varieties. However, limited private investment in agriculture due to uncertain policies constrains sectoral expansion.
